Carpet Types

Level Loop

Many carpets are constructed with a loop pile surface. Loop carpets are marked by a continuous uncut surface that resists crushing and matting. This style wears well and is suited for casual rooms with lots of traffic and activity.

Cut Pile

A cut pile carpet is typically the most popular carpet texture chosen amongst consumers. The looped carpet fibers are cut at the top of the carpet, which results in tightly bound straight standing yarn bundles. This gives the carpet a very lavish and defined appearance. The only downfall is that this carpet type is less resistant to heavy foot traffic and can wear down over time.

Saxony

A Saxony carpet type involves two or more yarn fibers that are tightly twisted together. A Saxony carpet will provide you with a supple texture that is soft to the touch yet durable against heavy foot traffic. A Saxony carpet will however, show vacuum and footprint marks.

Friezé

A Frieze carpet type is one which has fibers that are extremely twisted at the top. The numerous twists in the carpets fiber make the carpet suitable for heavy foot traffic. Since it is not very soft, frieze rugs do best in informal areas like offices. They do not show vacuum marks or footprints, which is another plus.

Cut Loop

Cut and loop carpets use a straight cut and looped pattern to create a unique dynamic pattern available in solid colors and multi colors. You can choose a pattern right for you so you achieve your own desired durability, color and texture.

Berber

In a Berber carpet, you will find a closed loop consisting of very thick yarn threads. These carpets are becoming more popular due to their strong durability. They may be a little pricier than other carpet types; however, they have a great appearance and track record.

Shag

Shag carpets display the utmost comfort and lushness. They are available in a variety of yarn thicknesses which makes them customizable to your particular needs. Having a shag rug will make a statement that you want comfort and softness in your rug.
